Contract Fee: $45–$50 per hour (based on professional and academic experience)
About the Opportunity
At Blueprint Schools Network, we believe in the power of great teaching and strong community partnerships to transform student outcomes in math. We are building a pool of talented Math Instructional Coaches to support the Oakland Reach and Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) through the district’s MathBOOST program.
This is a pool posting, meaning applications are accepted year-round and kept on file. We will contact qualified candidates as openings arise. Submitting an application does not guarantee an interview or immediate placement, but it ensures you’ll be considered when opportunities become available.
As a Math Instructional Coach, you’ll play a key role in developing and supporting Math Liberators—community-based math tutors—by providing individualized coaching, actionable feedback, and engaging professional development. Your work will help ensure that students across Oakland have access to excellent math learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Weekly Coaching:
Conduct in-person classroom observations (30–45 minutes per session).
Lead planning and debrief sessions with Math Liberators (30–45 minutes each).
Design and Facilitate Professional Development:
Prepare and deliver group PD sessions (up to 4 hours per cycle).
Adapt existing Blueprint training materials to meet the needs of Math Liberators.
Build strong professional learning communities that foster growth and collaboration.
Engage with Partners:
Attend in-person meetings with Blueprint, OUSD, and Oakland Reach stakeholders as needed.
Collaborate with Blueprint’s Program Director and local partners to coordinate schedules and ensure program success.
Stay Flexible and Solution-Oriented:
Adjust to evolving schedules and program priorities to best support students and tutors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience (math teaching experience preferred).
Strong math proficiency at the elementary level.
Proven experience coaching or mentoring educators.
Skilled in designing and leading professional development for adults.
Familiarity with Oakland schools and the local community strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to provide clear, constructive, and supportive feedback.
Flexible, resourceful, and committed to equity.
English proficiency required (Spanish proficiency preferred).
Terms of Service
Consultants are engaged as independent contractors.
Scope of work, deliverables, and compensation will be detailed in a consulting agreement.
Training and onboarding will be provided by Blueprint’s Program Team, including opportunities to shadow observation and coaching sessions.
